I recently purchased a Sony 52" television and a surround sound sytem that came with a 5 disc DVD player. I paid to have the system initially set up. I just finished the oom in my basement where the TV and sytem will go. In order to finish the room I had to move the television. I carefully unhooked three wires from the rear of the televison all which were wired to the video portion of my television. I placed tape on the wires and marked which slots I removed them from. I also unhooked the cable from the back of my television coming in from my Direct Tv Sattelite. The only other wire I had to remove was plugged into the back of my large subwoofer that sits on the floor next to the TV. When I hooked everything back up, I have surround sound working great when the television is on. However, when I put a DVD into the player there is this loud buzzing sound coming from the speakers. You can hear the movie playing (barely), but the buzzing noise is very loud. The sytem has a speaker self test and when I run the test it shows everything is fine. I am really ignorant when it comes to these systems. Can anyone tell me what I might try to get my DVD running and the buzzing to quit? I really do not want to pay for another service call if I do not have to and like I said, I was careful to mark, unhook and rehook all three wires. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Can you read the labels on the jacks where the wires go? Having some more info on what you unplugged would be helpful. Also knowing what kind of cables/connectors you unplugged would be helpful. Check out the connector post at the top of this forum.

Is you dvd player separate from the receiver? Where do all the speaker wires connect? Where is the sub calbe currently connected (check the label on the box)? What buttons do you press to switch from tv sound to dvd sound?

This will help us help you.
