im framing a door rough opening in a partition wall in my basement. things were going well until i realized that my rough opening is slightly narrower towards the ceiling.

at the very top of the door opening its 3/8" to narrow.

should i just leave it and shim less there, or rebuild? i was leaving 1/2" on all sides for shimming.

Will the door and jambs still fit? If so, you could let it go - some homes I've worked on were framed worse than that :D

Yeah same here, I've definitely seen worse. Like Dave said, if the door jambs can still be fitted with shims & the trim covers up the imperfections, nobody but you will ever know. ;)
