Call me "Jack(donkey) of all Tradez" after I fooled around the back of the above mentioned TV set.
Does anybody have a systematic approach to setting the controls on the back:
Drive: "G"reen, "R/B"red/blue
Bias: R, G, B.
There are other hex knobs such as "Vert. Size and "Focus" which I *know* what they do - but they are fine. The problem started when I noticed that this TV's image seemed to have good color balance and sharpness, but appeared washed out - dark tones gray, unless I boosted the on-screen Contrast up all the way.
So I tried turning both "Drive" hex controls about a 1/4 turn to the right, but this only made people look feverish and seasick at the same time. Then I adjusted the bias controls, but this only complicated things. So I turned the Drives back 1/4 turn(approximately!). I don't even know what "drive" means!!
Then I found out by turning the "picture" hex to the left a 1/4 turn, the picture got darker but less washed out. I then compensated for this by boosting the on-screen Brightness up halfway between its "middle" position and the far right. I was even able to cut back a little on the Contrast, and am now enjoying darker darks, brighter brights.
The only issue now is that the color is still a little "off" on certain channels and on some DVD/pre-recorded VHS movies.
Again, I'd appreciate some methodology here, or at least a pointer to a set of color tones to get this thing back to some semblence of factory settings.
Thanks,
Jack
