The ice dispenser in or GE fridge won't spit out normal sized cubes only crushed. What happened?

Hi BigD,
t sounds like the micro switch is broken or the lever itself has broken this is the switch that when you slide the lever in front to "crushed or Cube" behind that panel there is a switch that operates the control. I would look in that area first.

Do I remove the panel on the inside of the door, or from the outside

You can generally gain access from the front by removing the plate (trim) around the dispenser.
some just pull off some have hidden screws
