My house is 4 years old and the basement is already wrapped internally with insulation attached with metal starpping and vapour barrier. All above ground level or about 50 % of the height of the walls. I want to start framing this area. Should I remove the insulation and start from scratch or add to the existing with foambaord or another material and then build the framing.
I have heard many seperate methods, I would hate to see all of that insulation go to watse.
The foundation is poured.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks

From what I have ran into up there Id say check with code there first. I think Id let it there and build my stud walls out of 2x4 or steel studs and put a R 13 in them . for more insulation. Ed;)

Since you have the top half of the wall already insulated I would finish the inside bottom half with XPS foamboard then frame the wall to the inside of that with a gap in between the foamboard and stud then place bat insulation in the frame wall. That will give you the best system in my opinion.
Note: XPS is extruded polystyrene not expanded that is EPS.
