I need help. Three years ago I applied a polyurathene finish to my stair case. I want to dress it up and spray a coat of laquer over the poly finish. Can I do this. If so what is the procedure?

You can not use laquer. The solvents will eat the old poly off like a paint stripper. Either use more poly or strip it clean before you try the laquer.
