Looks like I have decided to put 4x8 sheets of white tileboard to cover up the "bad" walls in my bathroom.
But before I do this I want to make sure it can be painted.
Any thoughts?

Not sure I understand what 'tileboard' is. But don't get me wrong, I think anything can be painted if its approached the right way.:D

I don't either since I can find no info on the net for it.
It is available locally at all the lumber yards and home imrovement stores.
It's a 1/8" sheet that looks to be some composite other than wood and is white in color.
I would guess by the name that it is used as a tile backer.
Guess I'll have to check at the store and see if anyone knows what the heck it's used for. : )
I would asume I need to scuff it up a bit before applying paint but not sure if a primer would be needed.
Sure will make it easier to prepare my bathroom walls with this if it works.

Whatever it is, scuff it up and definitely prime it. Better safe than sorry.
Is it like Masonite, the stuff they put on trailer walls with wallpaper patterns already printed on?

I should have added that primer is a must for a bathroom.

No, not at all like that or the tile-look sheets that are available.
Just a basic sheet of "white" paneling without any other decour involved.
I will surely check with the store and see what it is made of but it looks to be a lot like ply bead minus the wood construction and vertical slats it has.
