Painting - Painting Basement

Hello all,

Could someone please advise me on the best way to paint my basement. It's pseudo finished--there are interior walls made of drywall, but the other walls are cement block. Everything has primer and paint on it already, I just don't like the color. Also, the cement brick walls are very rough (almost like there was sand in the paint) and seem to have brush marks on them.

I was wondering if I can use the same paint on both the interrior and cement block walls. Also, can I use a roller on the rough cement block walls?

You could try a half inch roller cover on the block otherwise I would brush. If the cement block is unpainted use UGL Drylok Latex as the first coat. If they are painted now I would apply a masonry primer on the block then paint with 2 coats of a semi-gloss paint. I use SW Everclean in basements as it holds up well against moisture and mildew.

I would agree with the above except I prefer a 3/4" nap on block walls.
