I'm planning on painting my front door. The door has old paint on it and there's no cracking that I can see, however, it does seem to be dry with a little flaking at the edges. Should the door be stripped or can I paint over this old paint?

Scrape of any loose/flaking paint, sand it, clean it, prime it, and paint it. If the paint is really old, its most likely oil. Prime it with an exterior alkyd, and you can finish it in latex.
Another thing to consider, if its old, it might contain lead. BE CAREFUL. Use precautions for this.
