I'm sheetrocking for the first time and wondering whether the outside corner should join two tapered edges of sheetrock or not. On a positive note, I do know that a metal corner bead should be applied to the outside corner.

Any info provided is appreciated.

Never, if you can help it, put corner bead over a rolled (tapered) edge. It makes applying the corner bead more difficult and uses a lot more mud to finish. Put the rolled edge towards the inside corners.

I am a noob. What is a tapered edge. Would I know it if a saw it? On an outside corner what is the inside edge?
