Hello. I have a question regarding A piece of black walnut, and was wondering if anyone could help. Recently I made a knife handle with a bit of black walnut I had left over. After I had finished sanding I used a piece of very fine steel wool and then took the knife inside. The wood got a bit dirty so I decided to wash it, I got it a bit damp and then quickly wiped off the knife handle. Almost immediately, tiny blue streaks appeared all over the knife handle, especially around the pores of the wood. These blue spots still exist after the wood dried and I dont know whatt to do. Does anyone know what is going on? Can I remove this?
Thanks for any help!

Sounds like rust from the steel particles that were left behind from the steel wool. Try sanding with 150 grit sandpaper and see if you can get them out. Next time you finish a nice piece of wood, leave the steel wool on the shelf. :D
