I have been given an old table that was my husband's great grandmother's dining table. It has lots of deep gouges and scratches in the table that only adds to it's unique character. What I would like to do is apply an ebony finish that is like what is used by Pottery Barn (and probably many others!). It is not as transparent as stain but not as opaque as paint. :confused: Also, I would like a durable finish that we won't have to worry about without being high gloss. Any clues?
