Insulation, Radiant and Vapor Barriers - Does insulation still have paper backing?

Hello all,

I am putting extra sound-deadening insulation between us and a unit next to us in our townhouse. We did a bathroom renovation, so want to take this opportunity.
We live in Canada. The insulation I have is from Home Depot, called Quitezone. It's pink, and doesn't have a paper backing, and is in batts.

Is this how insulation is made now, without backing?

Handling this stuff will be bad. I'll use a suggestion I read here, and use Tyvek coveralls with gas mask, hat, gloves, duct tape.

And, how do I hold it in place? We have metal studs.

Since it is for sound suppression, there is no real need for the paper backing that for most insulation is in reeality, a vapor barrier. To hold it in place, the batt just lays in the metal studs and is held in by friction.

Just put some duct tape on it to the metal studs to hold it till you drywall. I think what you have is called friction fit here . Good for what you want to do. If in a out side wall you have to put a V/B over it of a 4 mil poly then the drywall. ED;)
