I have a first floor room that is built over an unheated crawl space. There is a vapor barrier over the dirt, wood joists, plywood subfloor. The crawl space is ventilated with a 100cfm fan.
I would like to install wood flooring in the room, but am worried that the moisture from the crawl space might damage the wood over time, or cause it to warp or smell. It seems that a ceramic tile floor is the best option, although I want the warmth of wood.
Am I being too conservative? If I use wood plank, should I install another vapor barrier between the plywood and the finish floor?
