We're having problems in a rental modular home. We are not really sure if this problem is the insulation, the windows, both or some other problem.

The home has aluminum windows with some type of storm window inside. The colder the weather, of course, the more moisture stays on the insides of both windows. Wetness to the point it drips and causes mildew. This happens to all the windows in the home. Now, the other part to the problem is that the front side of the home, which would be facing in more of a southeasterly direction, has a problem with mildew on the ceiling along the edge and beginning in the front, side corner. This mildew appears in both of the rooms on the ends of the home facing the front. We have tried to make a small hole on the very side of the ceiling and found there was only plastic on the top. There may very well be insulation farther from the edge of the ceiling, but we didn't try.

Is our problem the windows, the insulation, humidity in the home (which we are told the new heating system we put in takes care of that), all of these or just another problem? Thanks in advance for your help.

The warm moist air in the home gets to that plastic just like the windows and it will sweat. You could look and see under the trailer. I have found that lots of times the insulation in the floor is full of water and that is where all the humidity comes from .Id look there first.;) ED
