Hello,
I am in the process of finishing the poured basement of our 11 year old home. The basement has always been dry but gets very cold in the winter. There is only one heat vent in the duct, which I cut in. Around the perimeter walls there is a 1-1/4" wide (french drain ?) drain that goes to the sump. I may be wrong but it seems to me that this drain is going to determine how I frame and insulate my walls. Do I put the bottom plate over the drain? I want to use foam board glued to the walls with furring strips (2X2) attached with a ramset but how do I install electrical with this method ? There is'nt any room for the wire. I'll probably use 2x4 furring for the strength but that doesn't give me any more room. Articles I've read say to use 2" foam board for efficiency. Are the furring strips installed over the 2" foam and then secured with a ramset? It seems that gluing to the wall saves so much time/labor vs building a 2x4 or metal stud wall. I know I'm rambling but how to install the bottom plate, because of the perimeter drain still seems to be the first answer I need. Thanks very much for listening and for any assistance you can provide. Doug

Build the 2x 4 wall wood or steel dont shoot the strips on the wall its a no no. Id put the bottom P/T plate out just off the drain .
Cut some more heat outlets in the duct run them to just off the outside wall. blowing down. get one cold air grill back into the cold air drop also ED;)
