i would like to know if someone could tell me where to get instructions on the window treatments you can make using a 4yard piece
of material and rubberbands for standard size window. i do know you must wrap it around the standard curtain rod but i am not sure how. thanks for any help!

Check the Christopher Lowell site for ideas. You might have to turn under the raw edges with some iron on tape but there are many ways to do with no sew. Also check www.roombyroom.com (http://www.roombyroom.com) on the hgtv site. A local fabric store might have some ideas for you also in either patterns or magazines. Good luck. Remember - if it looks good to you - you did it right!

Go Guy - Great answer! May I add that both Shari and Christopher advise using a staple gun to staple fabric treatments onto a board. Great if you don't ever plan on cleaning them! I had a decorator tell me that people should replace all window treatments every 3 - 5 years. ON WHOSE BUDGET? NOT MINE!!! I have a king size four poster with swags and jabots plus matching swags and jabots at the windows. (Yes, I made them.) Instead of stapling the fabric to the wood I purchased velcro at the fabric store and cut it into 3" pieces. I stapled the hook half of the velcro to the wood and sewed the felt half to the fabric in the corresponding location. Voila! Removeable window and bed treatments for cleaning (washing or dry cleaning as appropriate). I just use the tip of my finger to hold down the hook half so I don't pull out the staples when taking the fabric down for cleaning. They've been up ten years now and still look like new thank you and it works so good I just finished re-doing my guest room last year with the same technique. Aha! It works!!

I forgot to mention that this same decorator said "forget the rubber bands - use white, fabric covered little girl's pony bands. She said they hold up better than rubber bands, the white won't transfer color to your fabric, and they are easier to remove for CLEANING the fabric. (Huh, this is the same gal who said to staple the fabric to a board, skip the cleaning, and replace every 3-5 years. Oh well!)
