hey,
im siding my home w/ hardiplank, fiber cement. i live on long island, and asked the building supply about putting insulation up first, but they said there is no need to since there is no air gap like vinyl. i have already finished the trim.
1) will it be a huge difference if i dont use the insulating panels?
2) is it too late?
thanks birch

There is no need for the insulation behind Hardiplank, unlike vynal siding. The reason for it is vynal loses heat 2,000 times faster than wood. If you installed the vynal without the insulation behind it, the probability that condensation would occur is very high.
