I have an outside door that opens out. So the hinges are on the outside. How can I protect those hinges if someone wanted to get in the house without a key? (the door must open out)

You need hinges with a fixed pin or a non-rising pin.
The non-rising pin uses an allen head set screw that prevents the pin from being removed until the set screw is loosened when the door is open.
I am not sure if these are available at your local home center-you may have to check with a builder's hardware store, locksmith or special order them.
