I'm in the process of remodeling my bathroom and would like to install a 6 panel pine door. my walls are plastered and the thickness varies from 5 1/4 to 5 3/8. What are my options? Should I by a slab door and build a jam, or would a split jam be easier? Any other ideas?

Do yourself a major favor and get a pre-hung door of your choice. They are much faster and easier to install.

u can get a pre hung door and u could rip your own jamb extensions if u are staining it u could used a pre finished or just get a 1x6 with the same grain and color as the jamb and rip it to what u need if u are painting then any wood will do for extensions and u can caulk the joint if u use pre finished u can buy extra jambs for extensions

An 1/8" variation in the walls?? Man, THAT'S NOTHING!!!

Install a pre-hung door with the proper width jamb, case it, and caulk the gaps. You're done.

Mike -- What happened to Old Guy??? I barely recognized you!!!!! I know they changed a lot of things around, but THAT??? We could ALL be in trouble now!!
