I'm attempting to install a DSL filter (ZA431PJ31X) between my security panel and the telco line. I've been doing some research and and identified the filter to use (above), however, I've also noticed there is no RJ31X jack installed with my system (Apex Destiny 6100).

Do I need to first install an RJ31X, or can I just wire in the DSL filter between the incoming telco line and the panel??

Any advise is appreciated. Also, any comments regarding the DSL filter (ZA431PJ31X) from Excelsus is appreciated.

It could be done using RJ45 jacks and plugs, but it would actually be much easier to just install an RJ31 jack.

To install the filter, you just unplug the data cable from the RJ jack and plug in the filter, then plug the data cable into the back of the filter. So, there's really no way to hard wire the filter (not without destroying it.)

Just order a filter and RJ31 jack and install them both :)
