I'm replacing a Janitrol HPT 1860 thermostat with a Honeywell CT-3611. The Janitrol has 7 terminals (Y,G,R,O,W2,E and C)with wires connected to all seven. The Honeywell has 10 terminals, with B, L, and W1 in addition to those on the Janitrol. Do I just hook up the seven wires I have to the corresponding terminals on the Honeywell and leave the three additional terminals without wires, or do I have to do something else? On the Honeywell, B is "Heating Changeover", L is "Check Heat Pump Indicator" and W1 is "Stage 1 Heating Relay".

I WOULD CALL A CONTRACTOR ON THIS THE JANITROL DOES NOT HAVE A WIRING TERMINAL BLOCK AT THE UNIT AND THE WIRES ARE JUST WIRE NUTTED TOGETHER AND TO MAKE SURE THE WIRE COLORS MATCH THE NEW STAT YOU ARE ASKING FOR TROUBLE IF YOU TRY THIS YOURSELF AND MESS UP THE CIRCUT BOARD OR XMFR OF NEW TSTAT SOUNDS LIKE YOU GOT A HEAT PUMP CORRECT

I agree with Global. This is the time for a TECH!!!If wired incorrectly the cost of the tstat will seem minimal compared to the damages you may do.I WOULD however expain this to the service company you call to insure that they are familiar with this type of change over. Before they touch anything demostrate to the TECH that all systems are working properly.JUST in case that after the chaneover something does'nt work or something in the low voltage circuit fries.PDF
