We recently purchased a 3 year old home that has basically sat empty for a year. When we moved in the Heat/Air YORK system appeared to work but did not put out what I expected. Now when we try to get heat the outside pump sounds like its wants to come on (Makes strange noise)for a few seconds then goes off. Fan still spins on AC unit. We get very little if any heat. Any Help?

IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU MAY BE FIGHTING ONE OF A FEW THINGS POSSIBLY LOW ON REFRIGERANT AND GOING OF ON LOW PRESSURE OR THE CHANGE OVER VALVE IS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY AND YOU ARE GOING OF ON HIGH PRESSURE.

I RECOMEND CALLING SERVICE AGENT

It sounds like one or two things 2 me.It the home was empty for a year...with the power shut off to premises...than you had no power to the crankcase heater. The heater keeps liquid out of the bottom of the compressor.Without it not energized the compressor may have tried to pump liquid.Compressors DO NOT like to do that.It also sounds like it's trying to start but not coming off the start winding.Have your SERVICE TECH try installing a soft start kit.We all carry them on our service vans. Please keep in touch so I know how you faired.PDF
