I went to Lowe's today to see their "how to" class on tile installation. The person who taught the class said that ceramic tile could not be used in kitchens because the weight of the refrigerator would crack it when it was time to return the fridge to its location after tiling. What is the rule of thumb on this?

Two possibilities:
(1) The guy was an idiot.
(2) The guy was answering a question about a specific kitchen for a specific person, and he knew some details about that particular kitchen (perhaps he knew the floor joists were undersized for their span).
I'd give him the benefit of the doubt and assume (2).

Thank God!!!!!!!!!!!
I have learned my lesson on Lowe's classes.
After attending today, I think possibility #1 is most likely. I have researched this tile installation mission and I had never heard of that. Thanks for your timely reply.
