I want to install ceramic tile over concrete after a vinyl covering has been removed. How should this be done?

you need to get the concrete just as smooth as the day it was poured, scrape all the old glue and backing off the floor.

Then you need to inspect the slab for cracks and isolate the cracks.Depending on the age of the slab and the grade above or below then you want to do at least a mat test .Take some 6 mil clear plastic and in 2 or 3 different areas of the room tape them to the floor and let sit for24 hours, the tape needs to seal the plastic so no air can get in.Pull it off after 24 hours and see what kindof moisture is present if alot then you may want to do a cacium chloride test to how much moisture is there to see if you can even set tile on this slab. However now that i think about it you had no problems with the vinyl right? You're probably ok but do the mat test anyway.Get back to us when ready to lay tile:cool:
