Hello nott. Welcome to my Gas Appliances topic and our Do-It-Yourself Web Site.

Couple of questions come to mind first. What happened to the ignitors that cause you to want to replace them? Not sparking, damaged or dirty? Explain. May not need to replace them.

Read the manufacturers online web site for product information, disassembly, reassembly methods, repair procedures, instructions, pictorials, schematics, which may be available online.

Check the mfg web site for a download version of the repair manual which will provide instructions and pictures. Aslo the links below for any additional help.

Appliance parts dealers are an excellent source for original replacement parts. Dealers are listed in the phone book under appliances. Be sure the electrical power to the appliance is turned off, before attempting any repairs.

Use the reply button to add the additional information. Using this method also moves the topic back up to the top of the list automatically.

Thanks for your quick response. The inginites will only lite 10% of the time. Any other time I have to use a match. Most times it does not even tick. Which I think means its not sparking. I'm going to be selling this house soon so I figured replacing them would be the best thing to do.

Hello: nott

Sparkers that fail to spark can be caused by several problems. The spark module may be weak, defective or burned out.

Defective sparking modules may not spark each time or for not a long period of time. They can also create a weak spark all the time or after a period of useage or no spark at times.

Removal and replacement is the only option. They are a non repairable item. Be sure to turn off or unplug the appliance before attempting repairs.

The spark ignition system may be too weak to ignite the burners, The clearance distance between the sparking element could be incorrect. The sparker could be dirty, the ignition ports could be clogged up or restricted as well as the burner heads.

To clean the sparkers, use an old tooth brush or pipe cleaner. DO NOT attempt to bend any tabs if the sparkers have them. The part is very brittle and will crack the ceramic insulator and or the tip will break off.

Check the electrical connection at the base of each sparker for a good connections, wiring and cleanliness. Also check the terminal ends at the switches and the spark module.
