Is there a secret to tiling shower ceilings? I read one suggestion that said to stick the tile to the plywood or backerboard on the floor and screw the whole thing at once to the ceiling when the mastic has cured. Is that necessary? Is there a better way?

Yeah there's alot better way, quality thinset & a little masking tape just to hold things in place. How big a project you got planned? Kinda want to stay away from large format tiles.

"Back butter" the tiles for the ceiling rather than try to spread thinset overhead. If you do try to spread overhead do not wear your favorite hat. :)
