I have 2 maple corbels I need to install under a counter top for support. The counter top will be granite on top of 3/4" plywood. The granite has not been installed yet, so I can screw through the 3/4" plywood into the top of the corbels for upper support. What's the best way to attach the corbels to the wall ? There are carved decorations throughout the corbels, so I can not drill a hole into them to screw into the wall. Would liquid nails or similar adhesive be the best thing to use ?

if you can finish them in place, you can take a piece of 3/4" solid, glue and screw it to the backside of the corbel. Then take and screw it into the studs on either side. "Depending upon where it's positioned" Then take and plug the holes and finish it in place or you can screw it into the wall and take real wood veneer adhesive caps which I believe you can buy from www.rockler.com
and stain/finish to match. I wouldn't trust using any type of hanging device, as granite is very heavy. I'm doing something very simliar for a client as we speak, but I made angled supports, since there isn't any cabinetry going under it. I can send you a digital if you'd like. Ill need your email though. I did what I was talking about with the 3/4" backer.

It worked out very well. It so happens my cabinets were face frame, so nailing to the bottom of the crown molding was all I needed to do. Thanks for the info.
