View Full Version : Cracked heat exchanger

I have a Bryant high efficiency wall furnace. It seems to have a crack at the leading edge of the heat exchanger. One HVAC guy says replace the furnace, the other says keep it since the crack is at the outer edge (not inside).

Who should I believe?

HI:

If it's cracked it should be replaced. Just because it may be cracked in a non threatening location, do you want to chance it cracking in another spot? Do you have any carbon monoxide detectors in your house? You may have some warranty depending on the age of the furnace. Thanks. John.
