Well a few things to consider. The cost of the machine to rent it, then the sanding pads, plus how long it will take you to do.
Get a few estimates on what it will cost to have someone sand it.
I would look at it from the aspect of your health too. Do you really want to be breathing in all of that dust. plus the clean up.

Hi Puinkin,
I think you'll get more replies if you post in the wood floors forum where there are a lot of knowledgable folks. But, I'll try my hand at providing some answers.
I am certainly not a seasoned pro but I have spent the past four months working with a floor guy and have learned a lot about the installation and finishing process.
I think tackling the job yourself may be a bit ambitious because I dont know the actual condition of your floor and what you are looking to achieve. There are specific tools that you need to do the job and if you have never operated them, it will take some getting used to. The sanders are very powerful and if not used properly, can do some serious damage to your wood flooring. The job is tedious and very dusty. The sealing process is an art in itself and you have not mentioned if you are looking to stain your floor or just go with a clear coat finish.
My honest advice would be to have a pro do it because it will take a lot less time and you will save yourself the frustration of getting the job done and done right. Not to say you couldnt do it. It's just a big undertaking.
Get some prices and most importantly, feel comfortable with the crew you will hire. In the end, I think you will be very happy with having the job handled by a pro.
Good Luck!
