What are the cone-shaped screw jacks called used to level floors with and where can they be obtained?

Are you referring to the jack that is used to raise the floor or one to hold it up?

The screw jack I think you are referring to is available at industrial suppliers but what most folks use for occasional lifting are large automotive hydraulic bottle jacks (http://www.doityourself.com/store/6561898.htm).

Thanks for the response. I also use bottle jacks and sometimes rachet jacks. I guess the cone-shaped things I am talking about are just to hold the floor after it has been raised. I have only seen them in tv ads for people that level floors. I was thinking they may work like ceiling jacks and actually raise the floor a little.

Dont know where you would get them . But the bell type screw jacks I know the house movers use them all the time to raise the home. For just the home floor in a basement say I know that as a post jack.;) ED
