This spring my wife and I will be re-doing the front garden. We want to add garden lights to accent at night. How do solar powered lights compare in performance to electric or battery powered lights ?

Hi eman Welcome to DIYs Garden Forum :)
Like all Solar powered equipment it depends on how much Sun you get, & how big of backup Batteries you want to buy.
Places like Western NC have a lot of rain & hazy winter days, so it would be a poor place for Solar. Out West it very sunny & many people use Solar.
I would start by getting Data in average sunny days per year, where I lived. I believe NOAA or the US Weather bureau may keep such records.
Well if it was easy I know we all would at least be heating with Solar. I hate paying for LPG but like today we had rain & more tommorow. NC is a great state for Gardening but we lose out on the Solar power.
