Is there anyway...possible that one of these problems could have anything to do with the other? don't see how. letter is from son in law.

We're having some weird problem with the house. Whats happening is that
the air conditioner stops blowing cold air. At the same time the hot water in the back of the house stops running. When I turn the tap, there's just a tiny trickle of water. Hot water in the kitchen runs fine, though. Once I turn the A/C off for a couple of hours, everything works fine again.
> Also, that cold spot in the living room floor seems much colder then it usually is. (tile floors on concrete slab)pipes run under house.

(I can see the a/c either needs a charge..and or cleaning/maybe both..(freezing up), but how is he connecting the hot water problem to this? If the lines are both metal pipes, copper...and are touching, could that cause anything? Sounds like a DUMB question, but just figure you guys would know if anyone would.) :)

its possible that the two are touching and your freezing the water in the pipes
