We have a Lennox G12QSE-110-6, 4 burner furnace.Counting left to right, the #3 burner will have a flame in the burner strip after the furnace starts and runs normal for several seconds. I've taken the strip out and cleaned it quite thoroughly of rust, dirt and anything else that shouldn't be there as well with the other burners. Also adjusted the air opening but that doesn't seem to make much differnce. Could you tell me why it does this? Is there something I can do the fix it? besides replace the burner. Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thank you the oleduke of Sag. Mi.

Hello oleduke113. Welcome to my Gas Appliances topic & our Do-It-Yourself Web Site.
Based on the problem description, in a broad understanding of the symptom, it is highly likely there is some type of restriction in the burner orifice. The orifice is the bronze or brass hex nut cap the back end of the burner slips onto.
Try clearing out the hole in the orifice with a pipe cleaned or unscrew it with a 7/16th inch open ended or box ended wrench. Once removed, check it for an obstruction of some type. Usually a spider web will be found.
The above is based on the assumption there is a flame on the burner but it appears later after the other burners light or the flame on the burner is smaller than all the others.
In either instance, one of the two common problems is described here and the solution to the problem is provided.
Since you cleaned the burners, we assume you also checked the venturi tube as well as the ports. The ports are the openings on the burner where the gas comes out and the flames appear.
The ports have to be clean and uniformed in the opening size. Burner distortion often cannot be repaired. The entire burner has to be replaced but this is not a common occurrence.
Additional Suggestions:
Read the manufacturers web site for product information, problem possibilities, problem causes, problem solving methods, repair procedures, all or part of which may be available online.
An excellent source for original replacement parts is your local retail appliance parts store, the local heating dealers and agents retail part stores. Bring the make, model and serial numbers. The info will help to determine the possible problem causes.
Heating Agents & Appliance part stores stock replacement parts for almost every heater brand. The locations for the dealers, agents and retail part stores are listed in the phone book.
Be sure the electrical power to the appliance is turned off, the thermostat is turned down and the gas control valve is in the off postion before attempting any repairs. Always check for gas leaks whenever a repair includes any connection of a gas part, gas line or tubing or gas supply.
Retail parts dealers and heating part supplers can also help determine what the possible problem may be. Bring the make, model and serial numbers. Dealers are an excellent source for original replacement parts and are listed in the phone book.

Yes sir, I've tried a pipe cleaner, but 'll remove the suspected bad one and one that does work and try to make a comparison. I have tip cleaners for a cutting torch that I can gauge the openings to see if there is some restrictions. thank you very much for this very informative and helpful site. The oleduke of Sag. Mi.
