I live in a 120 year old house. At some point in the house's history a number of doors were removed. I would like to put one of the doors back. the problem is that I can't seem to find the one odd-sized door to fit the opening that exists and I will not be able to resize the opening. I do have a number of 30" x 80" doors in the basement, but I need a 26.5" by 79" door. These are 5-panel (horizonal panels) doors. Is there a way to trim one of them down using basic tools that a handy homeowner might have? Is there a type of place where I might have this done? Would it ruin the structural integrity of door? Any suggestions would be welcome.

Any door shop could build one for you but it might get costly.

You MIGHT be able to find a 5 panel door, 28"x80" an cut it down on all sides. If you find one, get a blank (no hinge mortises and not predrilled for a doorknob). Trim it, then make the hinge mortises and drill for your doorknob.
