they sell them at my local lowes and i was thinking of using their special T connector to tap into my copper hot/cold mains and run cpvc supplys to a toilet/sink in the basment. It allows you to join various types of pipe (cpvc, copper, pex, steel) easily (or so they claim)

There not a code approved fitting, I never put my trust in these type of fittings, there another part designed for quest water piping.

bonedoc:

I occasionally use this type of compression fitting in commercial work. I've never had one fail or leak.
Maybe Ron can say whether they are ok for residential use.
I am able to get a compression tee with an attached compression stop valve.

You can scroll through these (http://doityourself.com/store/brasscompressionfittings.htm) for different types.

Those GregH shows can be used, but must be accessible. Of course those are for copper to copper connections only.

does under a dropped ceiling count as assessible???
any other suggestions for T connectors for tapping into the copper hot/cold and branching off using CPVC??

IMO the fitting I have shown is the only type I would use.
You should be able to get a copper to cpvc adapter for after the compression fitting.

A drop ceiling is considered accesible.

If its covered up by drywall, then that is considered not accessible, accessible means access by being able to remove a access panel, exposed ceiling, ect. ect.
