Instead of installing a large slider in a 72" width by 36" height window I want to install two 36" x 36" windows. I want to install vinyl double pane windows.

Question, what do I put inbetween the two windows to hold them in place and get a good seal for noise and weather?

Several ways to go...

You can order a pc of vinyl "H" mull when you order the windows and the frame of the window inserts into the "H" ( visualize the H turned sideways.....I don't have a key for that...:) ) ....

OR, you can order the units "pre-mulled", they will use the same H mull, plus they screw a metal plate on the top and bottom of the two windows across that center point.....then you install both windows as a unit.

OR, you can cut the size of the windows 3/4" and use a 2x4 in the center. I do this when the windows are taller than 4' or so to add stiffness. Inside, I trim with a pc of wood trim 2" wide and outside I make a custom metal trim coil pc to match the rest of the trim coil I'm using out there. On a 36" tall window, you really don't need the strength this adds, but I mention it as another option.
