Does anyone know if there are specific tools available to clean an air duct system as a do-it-yourself-er? Perhaps an add-on to a Shop-Vac?
Has anyone had success doing this in their home?
I'm thinking that it might be logical to invest in some quality equipment to do this every couple of years.
Thanks.

if i were to DIY, i would take the duct apart every other joint(10ft or so) and run the shop vac with a brush up it thoroughly. how many returns do you have?

I only have two return vents.
I could tap into each duct, but I've got "flaps" in the ductwork to control the airflow that might inhibit getting the hose in there.
I was thinking maybe some kind of snake to loosen things up?
I guess either way, I'll need to access each leg of the ductwork to really do it right.

can you put the filter at the grille? this would eliminate all dirt infiltration except for duct leakage on the return side
