I was told my chimney for my oil furnace has some holes near the bottom. Is it difficult to install a chimney liner or do you think it would be better to have the terra cotta repaired? I'm also wondering what I can expect in costs for a new liner.

Its hard to say the cost on things from one part of the country to the other. Id say get 3 bids for the job. Not knowing how bad the whole flue is. Id say go for a new liner in the whole flue and be done with it.;) ED

Do you know what it involves to install? It looks like it would be about a 20' straight run with a bend at the bottom to connect to the piece to the furnace.

I had a similiar repair done in the beginning of the year. Approximately 20' of stainless insert, relay crown on chimney, and a stainless cap from chim-cap. They also swept my fireplace chimney-parts and labor -$995.00. There are different grades of stainless insert. This was the better one.

If you want to check out how good any stainless steel is . Just try a magnet on it. If it falls off its good stainless.;) ED

That is the 1st price I have heard. It sounds reasonable. Thanks for the input!
