What is the best method of repairing a hole in a hollow core interior door?

How big is the hole? You could spray some foam insulation in the hole to seal the area and provide a backer for a wood patch material.

I've re-skinned them with 1/8" Luan but it was a real pain. Why not just replace it. Hollow core doors are pretty inexpensive.

Thanks.......... I think I'll try the foam insulation method and see how that works.
