Bought a '50 rowhome with z-brick on the kitchen wall. Rather than removing the z-brick and thus re-plastering or drywalling the wall, we've decided to paint it but are confused as to what kind of paint to use. The brick is above the back splash, near the stove, sink and refrigerator - i.e. in the vacinity of heat and moisture.

For durability, use an oil-based enamel underbody as a primer.
For washability, use a semi-gloss latex as a finish coat.
