I just recently got my security system back up and running (with much needed help from "MrRonFL" and "SafeWatch"). I noticed that one of my three infrared motion detectors no longer flashes a red glow from the detector's lense, which indicates detection of motion.
I know the detector worked (before my security system had to be disabled) because it used to flash a red glow from the lense when you walked in its coverage area. Do motion detectors fail very often?

It's possible, but highly unlikely (especially since you haven't really done anything to cause a failure on the motion.) My guess is that you either have a lose wire, or a bad connection somewhere.
Time to get out the multimeter - test the Red (+) and Black (-) wires to see if you have about 12VDC on them. If not, then you need to check the AUX connections at the panel - in the process of fixing your system, you may have accidentally disconnected that wire or broken one of the leads.
You could also try swapping one of the working motions with the faulty one, just to see if the one that you know is working now continues to work - if not, it's probably the wire.
If all else fails - and the wires seem fine - go to Ebay and find a couple of cheap motions to replace your's with. You can usually get some around $5-10/each on Ebay.
Good luck!
