I have a DCS system. Most of my sensors are battery remote operated. Since service from the national firm I bought it from is nil. I was wondering how often I should change out the batteries in the sensors?
Thank You,

If your sensors are DSC transmitters (and not some off brand like Linear or Visonic), then the system will tell you when the batteries are getting low - until then, don't worry about them. Even after the system tells you they are getting low, you still have a month or more of service out of them.
Good luck!

Either "A" your are planning ahead for when these batteries run down. Or "B" you've already experienced a low battery signal from your system. Either way it's always adviseable to change these batteries in all of your components at one time, that way you will get a more even life out of the system and will not have to waist time every month or so replacing the batteries in these components as they die.
As far as the type of batteries they take, there are different sizes and different voltages. If you are really lucky, a small handfull of companies use regular everyday household batteries BUT most other companies use somewhat special longer lasting lithium batteries. If possible, take one of each kind of batteries your system uses with you to the shop where you plan to purchase them at. Some can be found at "Radio Shack" stores (a electronics store), some computer stores, or some cities have specific battery stores. Additionally it wouldn't be a bad idea to replace the battery in the alarm panel too. Just make sure you get the right size, type, and voltage otherwise it will be a waste of time and money. Good Luck.
