A burning christmas candle created a smoke smoot stain on the painted drywall ceiling. Any suggestions on cleaning and paint prep?

Just prime with a stainblocking primer then repaint

It doesn't take much effort and is well worth the time to wash the soot off first.
Then prime and paint.
Then prime and paint.
