I am ready to carpet a seating platform constructed from 3/4" plywood on 2x6 framing. The platform also has 2, 1x1 ft access panels. The installer thought the easiest method was to glue the carpet directly to the plywood and not use any pad. I, however, would like the pad but need some suggestions so I can forward them to the installer. The difficult part is obviously the panels which I would like to be as inconspicous as possible.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Carpet is the wrong material with which to hide access panels. I would not use pad on the face of the window seat. Pad can be used on the top, unless that is where the access panels are.

The panels are on top. What now?

Do the top without the pad and it will be easier to cover the panels. They may be noticable, but with padding they will be VERY noticable.

Thanks Daniel - No padding it is!
