Rugs, Carpets and Carpeting - Tomato soup in carpet

Does anyone have any ideas of how to get spilled tomato soup out of a carpet. We have tried "Woolite Oxy Deep" and "acetone" which got most of it out but there's a bad stain remaining. We tried both of these when the carpet was still wet...we are going to try again when the carpet has dried.

Had you blotted with just cold water first, you may have removed it. Cold water first gives you the chance to use something to get the remaining soiling. Just like washing your clothes, cold water removes stains. Hot water will set them in if it doesn't get it all. Same with chemicals and cleaners.

You may have set "the now stain" into the yarn.

Patching or replacement maybe your only solution, besides hiring a professional to clean it.

Any product with OXY in the label should be read as BLEACH. The remaining stain is probably orange in color, like faded tomato soup, but it is the color of a bleach stain. If there is any leftover carpet from the original installation it can be patched.

Tomato soup is organic. An enzyme digester cleaner may be successful. The trick is to give the enzymes time to digest the stain. Pet mess cleaners from the pet store contain enzymes. Enzyme cleaners are marketed under various brand names at home centers and hardwares.
