Hi,
I am planning to removed an old carpet to install hardwood floor on the second floor of my home. I looked at some wood samples and Rosewood looked very attractive. The rosewood planks I looked at come from Indonesia. The wood is prefinised 3/4" x 3.5" x 36" . A friend told me that rosewood may be too heavy for second floor level and he might be right. Rosewood is about 2x as heavy as Oak (i think). I have 1000 sf of flooring to do on 2nd floor. The hardwood seller says 1000 sf is approximately 4000 lbs.
In the future I may put the same wood in the first floor with the area of 1000sf as well.
What is your recommendation? The house is about 15 year old. Construction quality of the house is average.
Thanks,
Sean
