My brother/sister-in-laws would like me to help them lay some wood floor in their kitchen. I have done parquet, strip, and tongue and groove installation so I'm not too worried about that peice of it.
However, they want to install it over existing ceramic tile. To me that sounds like a really bad idea. I know that a thin layer of padding could be laid over the tile but I still don't like the idea. Should I convice them to rip out the tile first or do any of you guru's have another solution?
Thanks!!

If the tile is in good shape the only reason to rip it out would be a height/transition issue. If that is not a problem then why not go over it? Since you are mentioning a padding layer I'm guessing you're going to install either a laminate floor or a floating engineered wood floor. Bottom line is to follow the manufacturer's installation instructions.

Thanks for the reply. Actually I am not sure what type they are wanting to put in yet. And part of the reason they want to leave the tile in, is because of a height issue. :)
Thanks again!
