I am considering using the above flooring system on my basement cement floor and also in a double entrance way. The first entrance is not heated , the second is. The basement is heated and the floor is painted. I have looked on line to find maintenance of this product with no success. Has anyone experience with this product as it appears to be new on the market but I'm wondering how it will hold up. Thanks for any info you can give.

Did you ever get the cork installed, Sheldon?.
I did my guest bath and now working on the kitchen using the torlys cork plank.
I was told by the dealer and torlys to use their sealant for the cork after the install.
Mine is on order and should be in soon.
Good luck
Id be interested to hear how your install went.

Yes the flooring has now been installed but not in my basement as originanally planned. We put it in the livingroom, diningroom of our cottage and the hall way as well. It was installed over a thin carpet( no nap) on plywood and went down well in one day. So far so good and will also be ordering the sealer from Torleys. Looks great and easy to clean.Wonder how yours will do in the bathroom re humidity?
We didn't install in the basement on the cement floor as the floor was not completely level and we were concerned about humidity.

Interesting.. Installed over thin carpet (no nap)- Really glad that went well. I heard and was always concerned about that kind of install (over carpet)- but with no nap...I guess that worked out ok.
.
Im not overly conerned about the install in our guest bathroom, because it is seldom used as a 'full' bathroom. My wife will have a bath in there on occation and the humidity isnt a real concern because of that. Our master bath (upstairs) gets the most use. This guest bath is generally for our everyday (toilet) use...and my wife curling her hair....That sort of thing. - So I dont think I'll have a problem there.
.
Today, I spend the day checking and double checking the levelness of the kitchen floor, where I will be installing the torly's cork plank. Should be fine from all that Ive read, so we'll see how that developes.
The sealant should be in tomorrow so I can seal the guest bath and have enough to seal the kitchen when that is done.
I think the cork planks look damn good IMO.
Glad all worked out.

Hi Sheldon.
How long has your cork been down? - and not yet sealed!
Have you gotten the sealant yet...because I havent found any particular instructions on what to use to apply it, tho the store said a short nap roller..(obviously).
But I had a couple of other questions too.
There is a local Torlys contact here, so I'll call them for some more info..
.
This is what they sent me.....
TORLYS CORK FLOORING
Topical Sealer*
The use of Torlys Cork Flooring Topical Sealer is mandatory for bathroom applications.

· Paint Tray
· Paint Brush for corners and wall lines
APPLICATION:
· The surface of the cork planks or tiles must be clean, dry and free from grease and floor-care products.
· Apply, freely, one coat of the sealer – do not leave any puddles and use a paint brush to do the corners and wall lines
· Do not walk on for 12-14 hours – total curing may take several days
COVERAGE:
· Approximately 110 sq. ft. (10 m2) per litre.
STORAGE:
· Store in a cool area in a well-sealed container - limited shelf life once opened.
· Keep from freezing.
IMPORTANT: - Use only Torlys IF 6STAIN on coloured plank/tile. The IF 6STAIN sealer is White in colour.

Thanks for this info on the sealer. The flooring has been down for over a month maybe two by now and is holding up well without the sealer..just damp mopping and vacume. However I know this needs to be done before the high traffic arrives for the summer vacation so shall look for something to use here. The flooring does have a prefinnish on it so is maintaining a fine look so far. Good luck with the job!

I applied the sealant after the floor went down last week and all went well. Easy enough to apply with the 10mm nap roller. Used a tack cloth first, to pick up to fine stuff...and even still, I found a couple of 'debris' coated by the sealant.
It does dry to a matte finish like the original finish...so I feel better knowing that I did what they recommend.
I did notice that once the floor was down, the planks had a bit of a 'crowning' effect ....but after some traffic and time, they seemed to settle down and flatten out.
Good luck with the summer traffic.
