Ceiling tile grids already exist in my panelled dining room. I want to paint the grid white and then use the 3-D 2x2 tiles that look like 4 tiles in one.
My problem is that around the edges of the room, the tiles will have to be cut to fit and they won't lay on the end grid at the natural grid line in the tile.
Is there a way to make them lay properly?

We use that type of tile all the time in our commercial buildings. What the contractors do is cut the edge to create a "rabbet" so the perimeter tile lays flat. I've never actually seen them do it, so I don't know how it's done. Maybe someone else on this forum can help.

I've seen it done with a router and a rabbeting bit. Support the ceiling tile on a board and use an edgeing guide on the router. It's messy, so do it outside or have someone follow the router with a vacuum hose.:)

I bet you could accomplish the same with a utility knife and a little ingenuity to make a "jig." Especially if you don't already own a router
